Firenze Arti Visive has made arrangements for students to rent cell phones as way to keep in touch with friends and family both here in Florence and back home. Every time you make a call, money will be deducted from the phone. You can buy minutes before your credit runs out by buying another pre-paid card from the Tabacchi or cell phone dealer.
